Internacional (Marketwired, 08 de Agosto de 2013) Permanent Collection of Model Homes and Home Products Also Showcases How Residential Standby Generators Can Keep the Luxury in Luxury Homes Even When the Power Goes outMainStreet America, the brainchild of custom builder Michael Feigen and his wife Barbara, is something unique in the world of home buying, building and remodeling. Located near Houston, Texas, it is a year-round showcase of model homes and the products and technologies that go into them — the only such permanent collection in the country. There are 12 model homes in a wide range of sizes and styles. Two residential standby generators from Cummins Power Generation, a MainStreet America Featured Partner, are among the products on display and in use.

The purpose of MainStreet America is to help accelerate the recovery in homebuilding and remodeling throughout the Houston area. Manufacturers and contractors participate in a permanent, real-life showcase for their products and services; consumers can see products actually being used in a home and decide on the spot what they want for their own homes. Or, as MainStreet America likes to say, people are "inspired, informed and empowered." It's all designed to make it easier for consumers to move from vision to reality for their project, whether it's remodeling one room or building an entire house.

Convenience enhanced by technology

To make the experience even better, MainStreet America employs simple-to-use technology to help guests gather and retain product and supplier information in one convenient place. While they tour the homes, visitors can use a tablet device called TED, or Technological Education Device, to read radio frequency identification (RFID) tags on furniture, appliances and other features in the home.

Detailed information about the tagged product or room is then displayed in real time on the tablet. In addition, all the information that a visitor collects can be accessed later from a customized page on the MainStreet America website. This allows visitors to easily learn what paint is used in a given room, where they can find a certain table, and which contractor can install an appliance they like and what it will cost.

Residential generators at home in the neighborhood

Several of the houses in MainStreet's permanent parade of homes have residential standby generators installed. Two of the homes feature Cummins Power Generation systems provided by Cummins Southern Plains, the regional Cummins distributor. Each generator — one an RS20A and the other an RS30 — runs on natural gas and is connected to an RSS200 automatic transfer switch located inside each house. A&A GENPRO, an Elite Dealer for Cummins Power Generation products, installed both generator systems.

Justin Davis, Sales Representative for Cummins Southern Plains in Houston, said "In addition to being a great showcase for homebuilders, remodelers and suppliers like Cummins Power Generation, MainStreet America also illustrates that residential standby generators are becoming mainstream products. People want to protect their homes and families from power outages, which have become more frequent and severe. MainStreet America is a great opportunity to demonstrate how easy it can be to own and operate a quiet, reliable residential generator from Cummins Power Generation."
