Internacional (Marketwired, 23 de Agosto de 2013) The Athletic Trainers and Orthopedic Specialists of Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Celebrate Partner Soccer Teams' Strong Finishes, Gear Up for New Season The licensed Athletic Trainers (AT) and board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic specialists of Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine worked closely through the year to ensure a strong season for the young athletes of the Texans Soccer Club – Houston and Challenge Soccer teams.

On the sideline throughout the season, the athletic trainers were present to assess and quickly address injuries — rallying the Under 15/16 teams at the championship event held recently at the Houston Amateur Sports Park (HASP), which resulted in a ranking of 7th in the country.

And the Challenge Soccer U17 Team finished 5th place in their National Championship in Richmond, VA in July.

The Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital athletic trainers and sports medicine specialists work closely with a number of high school, collegiate and professional sports teams throughout Texas — kicking off a new season of sports with All School Sports Physicals early August. Over 150 sports physicals and a number of baseline concussion tests were performed alone on the Willowbrook campus that Saturday morning.

"We are pleased with the season that the Texans Soccer Club and Challenge Soccer teams have had and are looking forward to the fall sports season. We're very much a part of these teams we work with — and all of the ups and the downs that each new season brings," said Mike Pace, ATC, LAT.

"Through these partnerships, we're able to provide valuable resources that help coaches and parents provide the best training environment for their young athletes — while ensuring quality medical first aid coverage 24/7," added Pace.

The licensed athletic trainers, board certified primary care sports medicine team, orthopedic and sports medicine specialists and rehabilitation therapists work collaboratively to provide support to many community sports organizations and events throughout the year — in a mission to ensure a safer field of play and long sports careers for the athletes.

Saturday Sports Injury Clinics begin August 24 and run through November 16, 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine – Willowbrook campus (13802 Centerfield Drive).

Upcoming events for which the athletic trainers are providing coverage include the Texans Soccer Club 2013 Texas Warm Up Cup at Meyer Park, August 24-25, the Challenge Aggieland tournament in College Station, August 24-25, and "Methodist Night" at Klein Memorial Stadium to kick off the season and celebrate the Houston Methodist-Klein ISD partnership, September 5 (Klein Oak High School to play CyCreek High School).

The Houston Methodist Willowbrook athletic trainers also include Dwight Adsit ATC, LAT, Paula Douglas, LAT, and Keith Jahn, LAT. Each is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association, the Texas State Athletic trainers Association and the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers Association.
