Estados Unidos (Marketwired, 16 de Agosto de 2013) Nine personnel from the Canadian Army completed their participation August 15th in the U.S.-led Exercise Africa Endeavor, held this year in Zambia.Exercise Africa Endeavor is an annual 10-day communications training event which focuses on interoperability and information-sharing among African partners. The communications techniques taught throughout the exercise aid in developing the strategic communications capabilities of the African Union, Regional Economic Communities, and other contributing countries. These capabilities are valuable in the conduct of peacekeeping support, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief operations.

"Canada's participation in this annual exercise offers a tremendous opportunity to promote regional security by helping to strengthen regional defence capabilities," said General Tom Lawson, Chief of the Defence Staff. "Canadians can be proud of the work that their troops have been doing abroad, and of the contribution they've made to international security."

Participants from various African, North American and European nations attended this training exercise, where Canadian Army members acted as training mentors, exercise observers and controllers. The Canadian Army's participation serves to cultivate emerging relationships established during this exercise.

"The Canadian Army is prepared to contribute to international stability and to support our allies around the world," said Lieutenant-General Marquis Hainse, Commander of the Canadian Army. "Multi-national exercises such as Africa Endeavor increase the experience and effectiveness of the Canadian Army and represent a valuable collective training opportunity in an international environment."

Exercise Africa Endeavor is considered one of U.S. Africa Command's flagship events. To date, Africa Endeavor has trained more than 1,600 communication specialists from more than 35 African countries.
